FAQs
What are my choices when deciding on cremation for my pet?

Infinity Pet Services, Inc. offers two types of cremation. The first choice is communal, or group, cremation. The process involves placing more than one animal in the cremation chamber at a time. The ashes from a communal cremation are not returned to the pet owner. Instead, they are distributed throughout the fields and gardens of Infinity. Pet owners usually choose this method for one of two reasons. First, this is the least costly method available to pet owners. Second, many people handle grief differently and keeping the ashes of their pet can sometimes be a painful reminder of the loss they suffered.

The second choice offered by Infinity is private, or individual, cremation. The true definition of private cremation means that only one pet is placed in the cremation chamber for the duration of the process. When finished, all remains are then carefully gathered for return to the pet owner. This process should not to be confused with segregated cremation. Although many crematory facilities use this method, it is a misnomer to call it private. Segregated cremation is defined as placing more than one pet in the chamber at the same time and mapping their location for return later. There are a couple of reasons why this is not truly a private cremation. Because there is a sizable amount of air movement within the chamber, inevitably there is a degree of ashes mixing. Another consideration is the accuracy of mapping which animal is located where, which can easily become a source for operator error.

Infinity Pet Services takes great pride in our accuracy of returning a pet to their rightful owner. We guarantee that you will receive your pet back

How do I know for sure that I am getting my pet’s ashes back when I have him/her privately cremated?

It is every pet owner’s fear that the ashes they receive from a private cremation may not be those of their pet. Infinity understands your concerns, especially with recent events reported by the media We researched methods that would prove to pet owners they were indeed receiving their pet’s ashes back. Here is what we found:

There is no chemical testing that can be performed once a pet has gone through the cremation process (such as DNA testing). The remains are considered sterile, or inert. The only option we found was a metal tagging system, but it added cost and there was no guarantee the pet owner was receiving back the correct ashes. Unsatisfied with the industry’s options for identifying cremated pet remains, Infinity decided to use the reliable method of “seeing is believing”.

We have implemented a video system of security that records all activity of the private cremation procedure. The video shows the empty cremation chamber seconds before the pet is placed in the machine. A clock records the amount of time it takes for the cremation process. Finally, the video shows the raking procedure and all of the remains collected. The purpose is to show the pet owner that the appropriate amount of ash was removed in accordance to the size of the pet cremated. All recordings will be stored at our facility and kept completely confidential for a period of six months as reference if ever you experience any doubt of the identification of your pet’s ashes. Only in the event you decide to personally attend your pet’s cremation is the recording system not in operation.
